South African mobile operator MTN is expected to invest an estimated US$1.5bn to improve broadband connectivity in Nigeria. This investment is in line with Nigeria's ambition to increase internet penetration to 90 percent by 2025. The collaboration is regarded as a win-win for both parties given that Nigeria's financial contribution corresponds to 35% of MTN's annual revenues. At the same time, for Nigeria, these developments will ensure that its population is connected.
