The Turkish government has fined Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok a second time for not complying with the new social media law. The fine has reached 30 million Turkish liras. On November 4, the government had fined these same companies as a first-stage punishment after they did not appoint official representatives in the country as required by the country's digital media law that entered into force in July 2020. These representatives must remove any content that the Turkish authorities consider illegal within 48 hours.
