The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Africa Investor has announced the launch of an e-trade initiative that aims to digitalise around five million micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Africa. As part of the project, the partners are expected to roll out a AfricaPLC industrial e-trade and fintech marketplace platform that will serve as a directory for SMEs to benefit from the potential of e-commerce under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) due to begin in January 2021.The platform is also expected to contribute to the creation of a Digital Sustainable Procurement Champions Community; a collection of leading multinational and African companies active in the African continent -to support and ensure the digitisation of SMEs within their supply chains.
