GSMA released a report that looks at the role of digital and mobile-enabled services in addressing the climate crisis. The report provides five use cases in which mobile technology plays a critical role in addressing the climate challenge in humanitarian contexts alongside seven other case studies from across the Mobile for Humanitarian (M4H) portfolio to showcase innovations in practice. The report argues that 'the effects of climate change will worsen in the coming years. Recent reports project that global surface temperatures will continue to rise until at least 2050, increasing the frequency and intensity of climate-related hazards.93 Communities least equipped to manage the disruption, and least responsible for climate change, will be affected most. To tackle this existential threat, a significant scale up of investment in climate-smart action, alongside strong policy frameworks, are vital to reduce global emissions.'
