The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Nepal has launched the Nagarik App, a mobile application where citizens can access government services. Although still being tested, the app is already linked to over 40 government departments that offer citizen services.
The app uses citizen identity data from the Ministry of Home Affairs, such as citizen identity numbers, tax numbers, and biometrics. To register, a citizen needs to use a mobile phone number that is linked with their citizen number. They are then able to access services available on the platform and give feedback on the app.
