As the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) will come into effect on 1 January, Microsoft announces it will extend the "core rights" of the new legislation to all customers in the US. In a blogpost, Julie Brill, Microsoft Corporate Vice President for Global Privacy and Regulatory Affairs and Chief Privacy Officer, also indicated being optimistic that the California Consumer Privacy Act - and the commitment of Microsoft to extend its core rights more broadly - will help serve as a catalyst for even more comprehensive privacy legislation in the U.S. According to TechCrunch, under the CCPA companies will have to disclose to customers what data of theirs has been collected, delete it and stop selling it if the customer requests.
