In the USA, Ajit Pai, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) isreportedly planning to replace the net neutrality order adopted by the FCC in 2015, with voluntary agreements through which telecom providers would adhere to open Internet principles. Pai is said to have informed major telecommunications trade groups of his plans, but there has been no official announcement or comment yet from the FCC. However, FCC Democratic Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, a Democrat says that, if the reports are accurate 'we are gearing up for a battle that could eviscerate the widely supported open Internet protections'.
