Ajit Pai, Chairman of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) met with executives of several technology companies (Facebook, Cisco, Oracle, and Intel) to discuss the current net neutrality rules and his plans to change them. According tomedia reports, Pai saw the discussions as being constructive, as companies were willing to find common ground. While tech companies have traditionally supported net neutrality, Pai reportedly said he also agreed with the broad principle, but that the rules created by the FCC in 2015 'went too far in restricting broadband providers'. The discussions followed a similar meeting Pai had earlier this month with the Internet Association (representing Internet companies such as Facebook, Google, and Twitter), which reiterated their support for 2015 net neutrality rules.
