Through the Universal Broadband Fund (UBF) Rapid Response Stream, the government of Canada unveiled a federal fund of over$5.4 million for projects to bring high-speed internet to rural residents of northern, central and, southern Alberta, with an additional investment of approximately$3.7 million from TELUS. The projects target 5,080 underserved households with high-speed internet. It further aims at connecting 98% of Canadians to high-speed internet by 2026 and as a result, achieve the national target of 100% connectivity by 2030. 'High-speed internet service is essential to the success of everyone living and working in rural Alberta. This will help create jobs, improve access to health care and online learning services, and keep people connected to their loved ones. Our government has committed over$39 million to 18 projects in Alberta, which will connect over 41,000 more households to better, faster Internet,' said The Honourable Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development Maryam Monsef.
