The UK Government recently unveiled its 'Geospatial Strategy 2030' to strengthen location data and technologies across the UK by 2030, ensuring that the country maintains its global leadership in geospatial innovation and maximises the value of location data and services.

It aims to unlock significant economic benefits by harnessing AI, satellite imaging, and real-time data to foster innovation based on location information. The strategy focuses on key sectors such as property, transport, and utilities, with the goal of enhancing the use of location data in these markets.

The strategy is built upon three core missions. Mission 1 focuses on adopting advanced technologies to accelerate geospatial innovation. Mission 2 emphasises driving the widespread utilisation of geospatial applications and insights across the entire economy. Lastly, Mission 3 outlines the UK's objectives for fostering trust and confidence in the future geospatial ecosystem. This new strategy replaces the previous UK Geospatial Strategy introduced in 2018.
