The right to be forgotten currently exists for younger Koreans

Apr, 24, 2023 Hi-network.com

According to a 24 April statement from the Personal Information Protection Commission, young people in South Korea now have the option to delete digital information created when they were minors.

They can delete sensitive data from internet searches and social media posts, including names, addresses, ages, and images. With the aid of the new government initiative, those under 24 who have forgotten their passwords or cancelled their accounts can quickly delete their digital data. The service will accept posts that were uploaded by users who were under the age of 18.

By submitting a link and other proof of ownership information on the commission's personal information portal (privacy.go.kr), teenagers and children can apply for the service.
