South Korea's antitrust regulator fines Google $177 million for abusing mobile market dominance

South Korea's competition regulator, the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KTFC)  has fined Google US$177 million for allegedly abusing its market position to prevent smartphone makers like Samsung from using operating systems developed by rivals. Google has been accused of stifling innovation in the development of new operating systems for smartphones. Further, the KFTC has asked Google to end such anticompetitive practices and take corrective steps.
