According to a news report, mobile Internet users in Sudan came back online on 10 July following a court order directed at telecom companies to restore Internet services in the country. Sudan's military rulers resorted to an Internet blackout to contain further protests after security forces undertook a deadly raid on protests in Khartoum in early June.

According to the report, the blackout which caused a near-total loss of access for mobile and fixed Internet affected most ordinary users and businesses. Further, Netblocks, a digital rights NGO has estimated the cut had been costing Sudan more than US$10 million a day.
