According to network data shared by the NetBlocks Internet observatory, Internet access has been cut across Somalia with the capital seeing the greatest impact on 26 July 2020. This development is being observed just a day after the Somalian parliament voted to pass a vote of no confidence leading to the removal of prime minister Hassan Ali Khaire. NetBlocks reports that 'the ongoing incident has nation-scale impact consistent with an intentional blackout affecting cellular and fixed-line networks, and is not attributed to any international issue, technical outage or cyber-attack'. Sources on the ground according to the report, says the situation in Somalia is really not clear due to the 'unprecedented nature of the telecommunications blackout'.
