Jun, 07, 2023 Hi-network.com

Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Heng Swee Keat, announced the launch of the National Quantum-Safe Network Plus (NQSN+) at the ATxSummit Social. The network aims to provide quantum-safe communications throughout Singapore. Deploying such quantum-safe networks can help businesses keep the critical data of businesses safe.

To begin, at least two network operators will be build a nationwide, interoperable quantum-safe network that can serve all businesses. The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), a statutory body, is currently evaluating proposals from Singtel and a joint partnership between SPTel and SpeQtral.

Alongside local efforts, Singapore is also driving international standardisation of quantum-safe technologies, co-leading the first standardisation of the quantum key distribution QKD (a secure communication method for exchanging encryption keys only known between shared parties) protocol framework at the ITU-T with Japan.
The aim is to promote the deployment of QKD networks and foster the adoption of quantum security, both nationally and globally. IMDA has also signed an MoU with the Republic of Korea's National Information Society Agency to collaborate on quantum technologies and standardisation efforts, enabling enterprises to build and deploy quantum-safe solutions across global markets.
