According to the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the Parliament of the Republic of Northern Macedonia has adopted the Law on Personal Data Protection. This new legislation applies to any form of automated data processing done in North Macedonia. Standards and principles for data processing, lawful bases and data subject rights are also included in the legislation. In December 2019, North Macedonia became the 37th country to sign the modernised Convention 108 of the Council of Europe.
