NITDA calls for the creation of a sustainable, resilient and inclusive digital future

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has issued a call to the current generation, urging them to take the lead in creating a digital future that is resilient, sustainable, and inclusive.

CEO Kashifu Abdullahi underlined the need to grow an effective Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem in Nigeria and support the growth of the digital world at the 2023 West Africa IoT Conference and Exhibition in Lagos. He emphasizes the potential of digital technology to revolutionize Nigeria and the importance of addressing the country's security concerns. Abdullahi encouraged Nigeria to repair its infrastructure to guarantee a successful adoption, as the IoT relies on cloud-based solutions like Google's Alexa.

Gagan Arora, India-Africa Trade Commissioner, spoke on the influence of bilateral ties on Nigeria's energy industry, adding that the country remains a key investment destination. Arora also stated they intended to strengthen Nigeria's electricity, agricultural, and technology sectors to give Africa a technical advantage.

Dr Tinuade Sanda, Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), emphasized the importance of solar energy in strengthening the economy and access to electricity in Nigeria, particularly in rural regions with limited connection to the national network.
