MGM Resorts International Bets on Cisco; Double Downs on Wi-Fi Connectivity

Planning your summer travel and vacation destinations? Where are you headed and what kind of resort experience will you consider ideal? At this year's Interop Conference in Las Vegas, the Cisco Enterprise Networking Group unveiled its new marquee customer -MGM Resorts International -who has upped the wireless ante to ensure its visitors have access to the information they need, literally at their fingertips.

At MGM Resorts, they continue to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation to deliver the best possible experience for their guests. John Bollen, MGM Resort's Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer, is always looking for ways to take what they do and make it even better.

Over the past few years, they have deployed Cisco's wireless networking infrastructure to roll out seamless and secure Wi-Fi throughout several of their Las Vegas properties in order to create a more immersive and personal experience for each and every guest. One initiative already available to guests is the Bellagio mobile app (available for iOS and Android), which is offered as a free download for guests using their smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices.

The MGM Resorts Bellagio app uses Cisco's Wi-Fi network and Connected Mobile Experiences solution to search the property's amenities -dining, shopping and entertainment. Through the use of this app, guests can become a loyalty member and be alerted to discounts at local restaurants, shops and wine bars. Another feature includes indoor location-based services, offering turn-by-turn directions as visitors roam throughout the venue. Imagine going to the Mandalay Bay for your first Interop conference and finding your way to the Convention Center in record time!?

We worked with MGM Resorts' service provider Mobilitie and our partner Meridian to link the mobile app, context-aware services, and wireless connectivity experience together to increase guest satisfaction, meet the demands of their convention center customers, and unleash new revenue opportunities.

This collection of tools and services is another step forward for MGM Resorts in their ongoing commitment to upgrading the guest experience, giving them even more ways to help visitors to enjoy their vacation or business travel. MGM Resorts will be testing, adjusting and adding new features from Cisco's wireless networking offerings over time -stay tuned for more updates.

We're thrilled about the rollout of way-finding capabilities at MGM Resorts, as well as today's announcement of the next phase of Connected Mobile Experiences. Next time you're feeling lost in Las Vegas, take a winning chance and try the app!
