As part of their quarterly threat reporting, Meta shared information about six networks they took down for violating their policies against coordinated inauthentic behaviour (CIB). Their research found that these unconnected networks originated in the United States, Venezuela, Iran, China, Georgia, Burkina Faso and Togo. More than half of them targeted audiences outside their countries of origin. They also identified that most operations involved creating fictitious entities across the internet in an attempt to build credibility through fake entities, like news media organisations, hacktivist groups and NGOs.
The full report is open and available to the public. It also includes insights regarding cybersecurity threats. Meta claims they are making progress in their ongoing effort to continually improve the enforcement of their content policies.
