Meta announces plans to introduce generative AI to its Apps

Apr, 27, 2023 Hi-network.com

During Meta's earnings call for the first quarter of 2023, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced plans to introduce generative AI to its apps, stating that the technology is 'literally going to touch every single one of our products.' While he did not provide specifics on how this will be accomplished, Zuckerberg mentioned that Meta is exploring chat experiences in WhatsApp and Messenger, visual creation tools for Facebook and Instagram, and advertisements, with video and multi-modal experiences being considered for the future. He anticipates that the AI agents will be useful to everyone, from regular users to creators and businesses, and specifically mentions their potential to improve business messaging and customer support.

Meta has been lagging behind competitors in developing the infrastructure needed to support these AI features, but Zuckerberg assured investors that they are now 'no longer behind in building our AI infrastructure,' and generative AI products will be released in the coming months. While Meta has released an AI language model called LLaMA to researchers, it has yet to debut anything similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT in a way that is widely accessible.
