IBM and the University of Tokyo have unveiled IBM Quantum System One, described as Japan's most powerful quantum computer. The system is available to researchers at scientific institutions and private companies in Japan, with access administered by the University of Tokyo. According to IBM, System One offers users access to repeatable and predictable performance from high-quality qubits and high precision control electronics, with quantum resources tightly coupled with classical processing so that users can securely run algorithms requiring repetition of quantum circuits on the cloud. IBM and the University of Tokyo have been cooperating on quantum computing in the framework of the Japan-IBM Quantum Partnership launched in 2019, and the Quantum Innovation Initiative Consortium launched in 2020.
