Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism expands its database

Jul, 26, 2023 Hi-network.com

The Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) has added three new categories to its hash-sharing database's taxonomy in order to help GIFCT members respond to terrorist content on their platforms. The three categories are:

  • Manifestos from terrorist and violent extremist attackers, in PDF form.
  • Terrorist publications that use specific branding and logos for their organizations, in PDF form.
  • URLs identified by Tech Against Terrorism as where specific terrorist content exists that are often shared and amplified on other platforms.

GIFCT members use hashes, numerical representations of images and video, to quickly identify visually similar content which has been removed by one of the members. GIFCT members can then re-review the content to ascertain if it breaches their terms and conditions.
