According to Israel's Justice Minister Ayelet Shaket, Facebook has been complying with up to 95% of Israel's request to remove content that 'the government says incites Palestinian violence'. Google's YouTube executed 80% of the content removal requests. The minister also claims that Facebook and the Israeli government have agreed to cooperate to determine how to manage online extremism. Digital rights groups have expressed concerns for what they see as a 'slippery slope to censorship'. Shaket's figures arrive after a time of strained relations between Facebook and the Israeli government. In July, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan accused Facebook of complicity in Palestinian violence, and in the same month, Facebook was sued for allegedly allowing Palestinian militants to use the platform for organising attacks.
