According to a report, real time data from the Internet observatory organisation, Netblocks, showed a significant drop in Internet connectivity in Lebanon following the explosion that occurred in Beirut on 4 August 2020. The report showed a sharp decline in connectivity within 24 hours after the blast attributed to the impact of the explosion on nearby network infrastructure including network equipment, fiber data lines, and power lines. A breakdown by geographic locations of areas heavily impacted according to the report included parts of Beirut, Mount Lebanon North, and South Governorates. The report also showed by data, how the network provider Terranet made a remarkable recovery following the blast with 85% connectivity uptime within a day after the impact.
