Authorities in Mauritania have restored access to the Internet after a 10-day blackout in the country according to a news report.

According to the report, the authorities cut off access to the Internet in the country on 23 June after the presidential elections. The decision was necessitated by the outbreak of protests and riots followed by the announcement of election results where the incumbent president won. The report said further that the government justified the Internet blackout as a 'precautionary measure for security reasons'.
