Germany's Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure has announced that it has adopted anaction plan for the implementation of a set of guidelines for the programming of automated and networked driving systems. The guidelines, developed by an ethics commission on automated driving, contain principles such as: automated and networked driving is ethically necessary if the systems cause fewer accidents than human drivers; in the event of danger, the protection of human life always ha stop priority; in the case of unavoidable accidents, any qualification of people according to personal characteristics (age, sex, physical or mental constitution) is not permitted; in any driving situation, it is necessary to define and identify who is responsible for the driving task: the human being or the computer; drivers should have full control over what personal information is collected from their vehicles.
