European Commission reaches agreement with IT companies on countering online hate speech

May, 31, 2023 Hi-network.com
The European Commission and IT companies have announced a Code of Conduct on illegal online hate speech, which includes a series of commitments to fight against the dissemination of online hate speech in Europe. According to Twitter's Head of Public Policy for Europe, Karen White, 'Hateful conduct has no place on Twitter and we will continue to tackle this issue head on alongside our partners in industry and civil society. We remain committed to letting the Tweets flow. However, there is a clear distinction between freedom of expression and conduct that incites violence and hate.' More about this in the official press release.
