Coronavirus outbreak likely to postpone implementation of new data protection rules in Brazil

According to ZDNet, the COVID-19 outbreak will likely result in the postponement of the implementation date of Brazil's general data protection regulations. A bill drafted by a Brazilian congressman Carlos Bezerra presented in November 2019 had already proposed to postpone the entry into force of the rules to August 15, 2022. Initially, this delay in the introduction of Brazil's GDPR was justified by the slowness in setting up the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD).
