Cisco Wins Six Awards at Interop Tokyo 2013, Top Honors for New CRS-X

Jun, 19, 2013 Hi-network.com

This blog shares some terrific news from my colleagues in Japan. Cisco took six awards at Interop Tokyo 2013 last week, including the top prize for Service Provider/Carrier segment with our new CRS-X core router which launched last week.

  • CRS-X Grand Prix in SP/Carrier segment
  • Nexus 6000 Grand Prix in DC segment
  • Cisco CGR Grand Prix in IoT/M2M segment
  • Cisco CMX Grand Prix in ShowNet Demo segment
  • Cisco Nexus 1000V InterCloud Special Award in Cloud Platform segment
  • Cat3850 Special Award in Enterprise networking

The breadth of these wins -acrossCloud, SP, Data Center, and Enterprise is a thrilling compliment to the hard work of many people.  Many have dedicated their passions for technology and innovation along with a commitment to capture market direction.  It is wonderful recognition of our success across the network with an emphasis on architectures, not point products.  In the end, we believe these validate what is helping our customer be more profitable, manage their cost basis, and help them to grow and (where appropriate) to monetize their networks.

No doubt the win in Japan for the CRS-X was influenced by the number of large Japanese network operators who have deployed the CRS family.  As noted byJunichi Miyakawa, executive vice president, board director & CTO, SoftBank Mobile Corporation,"We are very pleased at the continued development of the Cisco CRS platform, which has served as the foundation of our advanced network infrastructure for many years. With the ability to scale to 400 gigabits per second and highly available architecture, the CRS continues to provide unparalleled investment protection and help ensure SoftBank Mobile's ability to remain one of the leading broadband content and service providers in Japan."

The CRS-X was demonstrated on the Interop show floor, along with the Cisco CPAK 100G modules that were first announced back in March at OFC/NFOEC on the Cisco ONS 15454 DWDM transport solution. The 400 Gpbs per slot CRS-X is the first IP platform that leverages the low-power consumption and small form factor of CPAK to deliver high density 100G IP routing.

If you missed us in Tokyo we've got two more opportunities to learn more about the Cisco CRS-X. We'll have demonstrations at Cisco Live in Orlando next week, along with an online seminar. Registration for the online seminar on Cisco's Next Generation Core Solution on Wednesday June 26that 08:00 PDT / 11:00 EDT / 15:00 GMT can be found here.
