China aims to promote digital connectivity for global economic growth and development

During a sub-forum of the First High-Level Meeting of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development in Beijing, Zhong Haidong, the vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, reaffirmed China's commitment to collaborating with various stakeholders, particularly developing countries, to advance global economic growth and international development through digital connectivity. Haidong emphasised the need to develop infrastructure, specifically focusing on areas such as 5G, the internet of things (IoT), satellite-based internet, and cross-border networks in developing nations.

China has actively promoted the shift from traditional connectivity to digitalisation, intelligence, and networking, resulting in successful cooperation with developing countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the South Pacific in smart and interconnected development, as highlighted by Haidong.

Moreover, Haidong acknowledged the positive contributions made by Chinese companies in constructing digital infrastructure in countries like Pakistan, Egypt, and Kenya. China's commitment to fostering inclusive growth and facilitating digital transformation through increased cooperation and connectivity remains unwavering.

During the high-level panel, other speakers also recognised the potential of digital technologies in bridging development gaps, while representatives from Chinese businesses emphasised the importance of nurturing talent and driving the expansion of cross-border e-commerce.
