The Committee on Public Safety of the California State Assemblyapproved a bill prohibiting first responders from taking unauthorised pictures and videos of accident sites and crime scenes. The Assembly Bill AB 2655 on the Invasion of Privacy: First Responders Act, will make violations misdemeanors, with penalties of up to a one-year jail sentence or  fines of up to USD$5000 for all law-enforcement personnel who photograph a deceased person, unless required for an official investigation. The bill was pushed forward after photos from the helicopter crash that killed the former NBA player Kobe Bryant and eight other people, including his daughter, were posted online and in some public places.
