May, 24, 2023 Hi-network.com

The Biden Administration on 24 May announced new efforts to advance responsible artificial intelligence (AI) research, development, and deployment that protects individual rights and safety and delivers results for Americans.

The announcements include the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP)'s updated National AI Research and Development (R&D) Strategic Plan to focus federal investments in AI R&D; the OSTP's Request for Input on National Priorities for AI Risk Reduction; and a new report, Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Education: Insights and Recommendations, which summarises the risks and opportunities associated with AI in teaching, learning, researching, and assessing. On the same day, the White House also held a listening session with workers to hear first-hand experiences with employers' use of automated technologies. The listening session was designed to help the administration understand the design, service, prevalence, and impact of computerised technologies that monitor and track workers.

The Biden Administration has taken significant steps to promote responsible AI innovation, including the groundbreaking proposal for an AI Bill of Rights and related executive orders, the AI Risk Management System, a plan to establish a national AI institute, and the investments and policies announced earlier this month.
