Last week the Department of Homeland Security and the White House announced a new initiative to combat the issue of disinformation. The so-called "Disinformation Governance Board" will coordinate department activities related to disinformation aimed at the US population and infrastructure. The initiative received strong criticism from Republicans, who attacked the appointed leader of the board and some even called it "dangerous and un-American". However, the board will serve an advisory role, as it is an internal working group and does not have operational authority.
