The Belgian's telecoms minister Philippe De Backer informed parliament of the recommendation to elevate the security level on 5G to allow the government to institute restrictions on 'unreliable' suppliers. The current risk level for 5G in Belgium is at one, and all suppliers are provided unrestricted market access. The Belgian Security Services recommends raising the security level to four (4) which would permit the government to limit access. European countries at this time are debating if to follow the US in the exclusion of Chinese telecoms giant Huawei.
