Aug, 30, 2023 Hi-network.com

The Bangladeshi government has unveiled plans to establish two Digital Economy hubs in collaboration with industry associations, aiming to catalyze the growth of the country's ICT sector. These hubs, located within the premises of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO), will foster a conducive environment for digital economic development by providing policy support, upskilling programs and a Center of Excellence for digital technologies.

The initiatives, supported by the World Bank's EDGE Project, were formalized through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed by key stakeholders. The EDGE project aims to train many graduates in frontier technologies to address the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution.

These hubs are expected to become centers of innovation, knowledge-sharing, and skill development by leveraging the expertise of trade bodies and their networks.

Why does it matter?

This initiative represents a proactive step towards leveraging digital technologies to boost economic growth, create employment opportunities, and enhance competitiveness on a global scale.
