In a new letter sent to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) on 14 January 2020, the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) reiterates its concerns regarding the allocation of .amazon to the Amazon company (a decision sealed in December 2019 after several years of controversy). Considering that the decision is 'an illegal and unjust expropriation of [their] culture, tradition, history, and image before the world', ACTO countries pledge to 'disseminate news of this situation to all relevant groups', considering that 'the international community should be aware of the very real consequences or ramifications (be it economic, environmental, cultural, or related to questions of sovereignty) or granting exclusive access to the domain .amazon to a single company'.
