A new joint annual research initiative was announced by the Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to produce and publish accurate and trusted mobile and fixed broadband pricing and affordability data, covering 207 countries across the world. To this aim, the data will be accessible to the public via an interactive online platform to provide data visualisations and easy access to the data. It will further provide analysis and findings based on the data set, including global and regional pricing trends, and progress towards affordable access across regions and countries. The platform aims to inform and support decisions by policymakers, regulators, and private sector stakeholders, as all players work to achieve universal access to affordable broadband.
