Effective 1 July 2021, WIPO has updated its Mediation, Arbitration, Expedited Arbitration and Expert Determination Rules. Changes establish electronic filing as the default way of communication and submissions, express permission for remote mediation and arbitration hearings and meetings, and introduce disclosure requirements concerning the identity of third-party funders, among others.
WIPO has also announced the 2021-2024 members of the Mediation and Arbitration Advisory Committee. This informal consultative body acts as an arbitration and mediation policy advisory committee to the WIPO.
