Japan and the United Kingdom have agreed not to force companies to set up local data servers during the negotiations for their upcoming free trade agreement. After Britain decided to leave the European Union, the two nations have been negotiating a deal to replace the EU-Japan Economic Partnership, which also included provisions in favour of the free flow of data between both economies.
