Twitter replaces blue bird logo with 'X'

Jul, 24, 2023 Hi-network.com

On Sunday, 23 July, the owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, announced that Twitter the company replaced its blue bird logo with an 'interim' X on a black backdrop logo. The move aligns with Musk's previously announced plans to create X, the everything app. The company's CEO, Linda Yaccarino, stated that X aims to expand interactivity by including features centered on audio, video, messaging, and banking payments while making it a global marketplace for services and opportunities. Yaccarino also claimed that X would be driven by AI aiming to enhance connectivity.

The social media website displayed the company's new logo, but the URL was still twitter.com, with the blue 'Tweet' button. Some users saw a blue version of the X logo, indicating the update was not yet complete.

The company's decision to rebrand coincides with Musk's recent response to a user. He mentioned that they are experiencing 'negative cash flow' due to a significant decline in advertising revenue, approximately 50%, and a substantial debt burden.

And while it may seem that Twitter's blue bird logo has been from the beginning, it was, in fact, officially adopted in 2010 and named 'Larry the Bird' after the Boston Celtics basketball player Larry Bird.
