TSA begins using credential authentication technology

Jan, 06, 2023 Hi-network.com

The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has begun using new credential authentication technology (CAT) at security checkpoints at Omaha's Eppley Airfield to confirm travelers' identity and flight information. The technology verifies various photo IDs used by travellers within the USA. These include driving licences, state IDs, and passports.

At Eppley Airfield, travellers will hand their ID to TSA officers, for the officers to validate the travellers identity and pull out travel details. This will eliminate the need for boarding passes, reducing use of paper and contact. TSA has however reminded travellers that by October 2021, travellers within the US will have to use IDs listed under the RealID Act. These include state issued ID and passports.
