The UK has introduced a new set of rules that requires manufacturers to make spare parts available to consumers and third-party companies to extend the life cycle of a range of electronics and electrical devices up to ten years. The law also gives manufacturers two years to make the necessary changes to comply with the new legislation.
However, the new law does not cover all electronic devices and appliances. While larger appliances such as dishwashers, fridges, washing machines, televisions are included in the legislation, the new law does not cover smartphones and laptops.
