The 5 best LG TVs you can buy

Oct, 16, 2023 Hi-network.com

LG has a corporate history that traces back to 1952, which means that LG TVs have come to be some of the most recognizable and expensive on the market. The company was one of the first to offer OLEDmodels until both Sony and Samsung released their own versions in order to compete. LG is also known for its gallery-inspired televisions, which are meant to blend into your home's decor and act as a piece of art as well as a source of entertainment.

Along with OLEDpanels, LG TVs tend to offer premium-grade features like AI-assisted sound and image processing, support for Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync VRR technology, and screen mirroring for mobile devices. However, LG also offers great mid-range and budget-friendly options for customers who are looking for a reliable TV without all the bells and whistles to stream their favorite Netflix shows or Prime Video movies.

My choice for the best LG TV is theC3 OLED for its updated panel, dedicated game mode with support for both G-Sync and FreeSync, and thin, sleek design. You can keep reading below to find out more about the LG C3as well as my other top picks for the best LG TVs.

Which LG TV is right for you?

When shopping for a new LG TV, whether you're a brand loyalist or not, you should pay attention to screen size aside from price. A TV that is too big will make your space feel cramped and can even cause motion sickness, while a screen that is too small will make the room feel like a cavern.

To find the ideal screen size for your space, measure the distance (in inches) from where you'll be sitting to where your TV will be wall-mounted or placed on a stand, and then divide that measurement in half. So, a distance of 120 inches (10 feet) means that your ideal TV size will be about 60 inches. You can go a bit bigger or smaller depending on what is available or what your budget allows, but try to stick as close to the ideal screen size as possible.

How did we choose these LG TVs?

While researching each LG TV featured in this list, I and other experts kept these criteria in mind:

  • Price:LG is known for their high-end OLED models, which can be quite expensive. Especially at larger screen sizes. Fortunately, LG also offers several mid-range and budget-friendly options for shoppers looking to save a bit of money or don't need all of the premium features of an OLED TV.
  • Screen sizes:A new TV isn't worth much if it doesn't fit in your space. I've done my best to include LG TV models that are available in multiple popular screen sizes like 43, 55, or 75 inches for an almost-guaranteed fit in your space. I've also included a large-screen option for those that have a big enough home theater or living room.
  • Picture and audio quality:Whether you spring for that premium OLED or end up getting a mid-range LG TV, picture and audio quality are key to a great viewing experience. Each LG TV featured on this list is guaranteed to support at least basic HDR10 and Dolby Digital codecs for enhancing visual details and boosting audio.

Is LG a good TV brand?

LG is an excellent brand when it comes to televisions. They've established themselves as the top choice for OLED models as well as premium TVs with high-end features like Dolby Vision, AI-enhanced audio, cloud-based gaming, and streaming entertainment. And while they're most known for their top-tier models, they do offer some excellent mid-range and budget-friendly options if you don't want all the bells and whistles and prefer a more simple TV.

What does LG stand for?

LG started life as two different South Korean companies in the 1950s: Lucky, a chemical processing company, and GoldStar which produced electronics. If you're of a certain age, you might recognize the GoldStar brand, as they were a large producer of typewriters, VCRs, TVs, and blank audio and video cassettes. The two merged in 1983 to create Lucky-Goldstar, hence the abbreviation "LG." The acronym also inspired the company's current slogan, "Life's Good," to simplify branding and marketing.

Who are LG's competitors?

LG has a lot of irons in the fire, as it were, when it comes to production. Aside from televisions, they also produce kitchen appliances, washers and dryers, vacuum cleaners, audio equipment, and even solar panels. If we're strictly talking TVs, though, LG's biggest competitors are Samsung and Sony since both offer televisions in similar price ranges with competitive features like their own versions of OLED panels, object tracking sound, and depth-of-field image processing.

Are there alternative LG TVs worth considering?

LG offers an impressive lineup of televisions, ranging from budget-friendly small screens to wall-dominating, gallery-inspired OLEDs. Here are a few other options from LG that I thought were great choices:

Best hybrid screen model

LG OLED Flex

The LG OLED Flex is a hybrid flat/curved screen model. With the push of a button, the Flex transforms from a standard flat-screen TV to a curved-screen to reduce overhead glare and improve viewing angles.

Best gallery-inspired TV
