Six Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have filed a complaint against the European Parliament, and its COVID-10 testing website. The complaint filed by the civil society group noyb on behalf of the MEPs challenges the deceptive cookie banners of the testing website, the vague and unclear data protection notice, and the potentially illegal transfer of data to the US. When accessing the website, the MEPs discovered that the website sent over 150 third-party requests, including requests to US-based companies Google and Stripe. In addition, the site's cookie banners were unclear and deceptive: the banners did not list all of the cookies placed on the browser, and require the users to accept all cookies. According to TechCrunch, the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), which oversees EU institutions' compliance with data rules, has confirmed receipt of the complaint and has begun its investigation.
