Singapore is implementing a crypto based mobile based national digital ID. In an interview, Mr Kwok Quek Sin, senior director -national digital identity at GovTech Singapore explained that digital ID was one of Singapore's six Smart Nation strategic national projects, and would be operational in 2020. Components of the system include Singpass, a biometric mobile ID programme through which persons are identified; MyInfo through which individuals can grant access to service providers to their identity data for verification; Login- a business verification service; Verify- an option where businesses can integrate digital ID in their shop checkouts;Authorise for remote authorisation; Sign that allows customers to sign legal documents; and Face for facial recognition.
