Siemens established a digitalisation centre in Dubai to advance smart energy systems and smart cities and industry in the Middle East. The centre is meant to support the development, demonstration, and testing of digital technology in energy systems in the region. 'Our energy systems are evolving as decentralisation and a diversifying energy mix impose greater complexity on our electricity grids. Managing and protecting these intricate energy systems requires intelligent application of digital technologies, and our Digital Grid Center directly addresses this challenge,' highlighted Siemens Head of Smart Infrastructure in the Middle East Franco Atassi. In this vein, the Digital Grid Center espouses six aspects of digitalisation, namely remote collaboration, cloud and data (IoT), cybersecurity, digital substation, digital twin, and energy efficiency analytics.
