Say Hello to Our New Advanced Video IP Phones

Jun, 01, 2015 Hi-network.com

Have you ever suffered phone envy in the office? You stroll by someone's desk and notice that they have a better, newer, cooler desktop phone than you do? Maybe it's one with a smooth sleek design, embedded video capabilities, and a higher-resolution display. If so, now might be a good time to raise your hand and ask for a new phone. We are introducing two new video phones to the IP Phone 8800 Series, which we've built to scale across your organization.

Next week at Cisco Live in San Diego, we will showcase the 8845 and 8865 IP Phone models. The new phones deliver the great experience you expect from the 8800 Series with addition of 720p HD video capabilities - at a great price. The new models also have advanced features that go beyond video, such as Cisco's Intelligent Proximity for Mobile Voice, which provides telephony feature integration with your personal mobile devices. It's all about enabling you to work your way.

These new phones round out an exciting phase of innovation on the desktop for Cisco. This time a year ago,

we introduced the DX Series, which delivers scalable, multi-utility collaboration with support for 1080p HD video and Android applications, including WebEx and Jabber. For scalable VoIP communications needs, our next-generation 7800 Series and 8800 Series phones, introduced over the past 18 months, offer acoustically superior audio experiences.  We recognize that users have different needs and continue to offer solutions to address them at affordable price points.

Companies that have adopted video at the desktop find that it can transform their businesses. Consider Raymond Handling Concepts, a distributed organization with 225 employees that specializes in equipment sales, rental, and service. Office-based employees distributed across seven states use Cisco 8945 standard-definition (SD) video phones.

"It's easier to communicate with video," notes Richard Johnston, IT manager. "We can see if someone is concerned about a timeline, for example, even if they don't say it. Better communications leads to better decisions."

Video at the desk can also add a bit of levity to your workday.  I recently returned from maternity leave. Like most mornings, I joined a video meeting from my home office. Luckily, this call was with a few of my team members and not a customer. It was also lucky for me that my team feels comfortable giving me feedback of any kind. This particular morning, they told me that I might want to consider changing shirts because they could see my baby had spit up. If that doesn't tell you about the quality of these devices, I don't know what will!

The 8845 and 8865 should be at the top of your list if you've been thinking about adopting desktop video. Especially if your budget hasn't allowed you to scale it the way you want.

Here are ways you can get hands-on with the new phones. Check out the quality of video and the user experience and speak with product experts:

  • If you are attending Cisco Live June 7 to 11, find us at the Collaboration Booth within World of Solutions
  • Visit us at InfoComm in Orlando June 17thto June 19th.

If you aren't attending either event, get a sense for the video quality and experience in this video:

And of course, check out the IP Phone 8800 Series pages for complete details.

Have you adopted desktop video like Raymond Handling Concepts? If you have, we'd love to hear about your experience and how it has it transformed your business processes.

*The 8845 and 8865 models will be available in your choice of charcoal gray and white.
