Ring adds additional security layers to its products

Feb, 18, 2023 Hi-network.com

Following the criticism and lawsuits in the matter, Ring has introduced an additional security step to its products -a mandatory two-factor authentication to customers to prevent unauthorized users from accessing Ring accounts. This comes after the company incorporates the feature of login alerts from new devices, this last December. The company also announced several changes to its third-party service providers policy. The company temporarily is pausing the use of most third-party analytics services in the Ring apps and website, and later on, will provide customers with additional options on how to limit sharing information with third-party service providers. Besides, consumers can now already opt-out of sharing information with third-party service providers to receive personalized ads. In its announcement, the company also emphasized some security recommendations for consumers such as avoiding reusing passwords, updating phone numbers and email addresses, adding a PIN/passcode to smartphone accounts, using upgraded versions of apps and operating systems, managing trusted devices, and adding the feature of shared users to Ring accounts instead of sharing one's login credentials.
