The Technical Centre for Agriculture and Rural Cooperation (CTA) which is a joint institution operating under the framework of the Cotonou Agreement between Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific (ACP) states and EU member states, has published 'The Digitalisation of African Agriculture Report'. The aim of the report is to highlight the importance of digital technology for agricultural transformation of Africa and a number of other related issues, such as climate change, youth unemployment, and overall economic growth. The report also addresses the need to invest in capacity development.

According to CTA Director Michael Hailu, a new breed of young ICT 'agripreneurs' is fostered in youth entrepreneurship. 'In climate-smart agriculture multiple projects provide information that can help towards building resilience for smallholder farmers. And in women empowerment we are supporting digital platforms to drive greater inclusion for women entrepreneurs in agricultural value chains', Hailu noted in his launch statement.
