According to a news report, the internet monitoring firm Netblocks observed a nationwide power outage across Pakistan on 9 January 2021 that negatively impacted internet connectivity in the country. Real-time network data showed that the outage heavily impacted the telecommunications infrastructure of the country leaving observable internet connectivity in the country at 62% of ordinary levels. According to the report, the disruption to the internet is consistent with a nation-scale power grid failure, however the occurrence happens to be one of the most severe outages to hit the country.
